Kelly country: sounds of gunshots and novelty gaol keys.
I went on a little road trip on the weekend - I love my road trips :o) I had hoped there'd be something other than the sunburnt country to look at out Glenrowan way. And yep - there it was. A massive Ned Kelly statue holding a rifle and a pistol in his pocket.
The town was sparse, quaint. You could drive through it in no more than 20 seconds, but you can't miss it. It's very open and neat. Almost staged, verging on commercial - but it was quiet.
I visited one of the shops that had loads of Kelly paraphernalia, including Kelly finger puppets, tea towels galore, tshirts and Australiania items. I found a novelty gaol key and figured it'd make a great prop for a jail-bird theme!
During our lunch on a street-side bench, we heard what sounded like gunshots coming from 'them mountains'. It wouldn't surprise me and in fact, I liked that it added to our experience...
After taking in the town of Glenrowan, we set off back to the car with a bottle of rum port under the arm. Then it was back to exploring - off the beaten track.

I'm slowly getting my stock of images ready for the next project - title unknown at this stage - but just imagine a bright orange Aussie muscle car of some sort in the above picture, and you'll get the idea.
