The point in which, you think you've made it.
Over the years, I’ve had a few defining moments, whereby I think, “Yep, I’ve made it.” Complete with an extraordinarily cheesy smile. Or girly squeal.
Making it into Australian Penthouse, certainly was one of them.
However there’s one thing, that pops into my head every now and then – that makes me feel as though I’ve made it, as a pin up photographer.
It’s a post that was left on my facebook wall, by Valerie. She stopped by and took the time to note that her mum really loves my work. Valerie’s mum, is a pin up model from the 1950s.
“My mum used to be a pin up model in the 50s, and she really loves your work.”
I was pretty gob-smacked to say the least.
I was also very lucky to have received scanned copies of said pictures, which I am able to share with you. This is the real deal, from an Australian pin up model!
Valerie writes:
“My mum was a theatre girl in the 50s/60s, which I’m not sure if you know, but they used to use models to advertise movies.
She is also featured in a book by Madeleine Hamilton called ‘Our Girls’ Aussie Pin Ups of the 40s and 50s.
Mum is now 74.“
