I was fortunate enough to have a Vintage Hollywood stylised shoot with Helen McLean, her personality & manner had me following direction with absolute ease, I had not shot this style before & was nervous on how to pose…I found she knew my body type, understood my age & look instantly which made use of time so effective. I was blown away by the photos & well, so was my husband!! I would highly recommend a shoot, as for me it was pure joy! I felt as though she captured me, not a mother & wife, but the woman inside. Lacking self confidence and petrified of having my photo taken, I was a bundle of nerves before I shot with Helen for the first time. But with Helen’s support, direction, victory rolls and ruby red pout, I soon discovered I could feel beautiful and confident about myself through pinup photography. 12 months and several photo shoots later, I’m proud to say I was awarded Miss Illustrated Pinup Victoria 2011, and am about to compete in the Miss Pinup Australia grand final – all of which I could not have done without Helen. I can honestly say shooting with Helen has helped teach me to love who I am.

Helen gives fantastic posing direction – including some things I would never have thought of, that look amazing in pics (she even taught me how to make my legs look long, which I thought was impossible!).

I really drew inspiration from my shoots with Helen for posing in Miss Pinup Australia, and loved recreating some of my favourite photos on stage.

In 2010 I took a big plunge and did something completely different, a pin up photoshoot with Helen McLean. I was quite nervous and not sure how I would go or even if I could do it (mother of two, not terribly glamourous) but as soon as I got to Helen’s amazing studio, she and her hair and make-up artist were nothing but perfect. Helen is a wonderfully professional photographer and has a very calming presence. She directed me to pose in the most flattering angles for my body, face and clothes. I loved the whole experience. Thanks to her amazing photographs, I am also competing in the Finals of Miss Pin up Australia in Sydney, March 2012! Thank you so much Helen. Can’t wait for the next shoot!

Receiving a pin-up shoot for my b’day was the best surprise ever, even more surprising was what an amazing experience it turned out to be! Champagne, make-up, clothes… definitely put a red hot cherry on my sunday!!
